Christian Otto, Franziska Piontek, Matthias Kalkuhl (SLICE stakeholder) and Katja Frieler have published a comment in Nature Energy on "Event-based models for understanding the extent of the effects of extremes" (the article can be found here).

Abstract: Climate change brings with it an intensification of extreme weather events, which may possibly trigger disturbances of the socio-economic and energy system. As we approach global warming of 1°C, we should start learning from historical extremes and explicitly include such events in integrated climate-economic and energy system models.
